This club was launched in November 1993, by fifteen women who participated in a workshop led by Katie Hoepke, author of Mothers Club - Nurturing the Nurturer. Katie helped organize more than 30 Mothers' Clubs in the greater Bay Area. Most of the fifteen women from the original Steering and Planning committees have passed the gauntlet to new members who volunteer to organize the club and participate in our monthly steering committee meetings.

Our membership has now grown to include more than 200 mothers from San Rafael and other parts of the county. Our organization, like our children, continues to grow and change, which allows us to meet the changing needs of our members and our children.

Our community of mothers has regular meetings, a monthly newsletter, weekly playgroups and a babysitting co-op. We also organize "In-A-Pinch" support services, activities and outings for the whole family and even a few "Moms Only" events. We encourage diversity and welcome new ideas. We don't endorse any single theory or lifestyle. Rather, we exist to create an atmosphere of support and friendship so that each member may find what she needs to grow as a parent.

If you are interested in helping we can certainly use it; but we invite you to participate to whatever extent you find comfortable.

We are excited about the San Rafael Mothers Club and the opportunities it offers for friendships, community and a chance to learn and grow in a supportive environmnent.
